C₂H₆ Monitoring

Ethane (C₂H₆), like many other gases that pose a risk to those exposed them, is colourless and odourless, and thereby very difficult to detect without the appropriate gas detection and monitoring equipment. Ethane is a natural gas that is produced and used in the chemical industry for the manufacturing of chemical intermediates. Excessive levels of C₂H₆ within a manufacturing facility are hazardous to workers as this gas is flammable. Continuous emissions monitoring systems can be used to maintain C₂H₆ levels below the flammable point--around 32 degrees Celsius.
