This process involves removing sulfur dioxide (SO₂) from combustion exhaust gases from fossil fuel plants or other sources of SO₂ emissions. Measurement of SO₂ levels in flue gases is necessary for determining if desulphurization methods are effective, or need to be improved. Desulphurization methods include wet scrubbing, spray-dry scrubbing, the wet sulfuric acid process, SNOX flue gas desulphurization and dry sorbent injection. Flue gas desulphurization should effectively remove at least 90% of SO₂ in flue gases. Our instruments can be used to monitor SO₂ levels in flue gases to ensure they are kept to a minimum.
