Nickel

The majority of nickel production occurs in nickel smelters, where sulphide ore bodies are roasted to release the metal from the ore. The smelter oven produces an offgas that consists largely of sulfur dioxide (SO2). Nickel smelters require a means to monitor and reduce their SO2 emissions to abide by environmental regulations and provide a safe work environment. Our instruments can effectively measure and monitor high levels of SO2, as well as H2S--an undesired contaminant in the smelting process.
